Farfelu Spirits’ Légitime Anise Herbal Liqueur Wins Silver Medal at the 2024 New Orleans Spirits Competition!
Houston, Texas, July 25, 2024 – Farfelu Spirits is thrilled to announce that its Légitime Anise Herbal Liqueur has been awarded the Silver Medal at the prestigious 2024 New Orleans Spirits Competition. The competition, hosted by the Tales of the Cocktail Foundation, is an international event that showcases the best-in-class spirits from producers around the globe.
The New Orleans Spirits Competition is renowned for its rigorous judging process, which involves a panel of industry professionals evaluating spirits across a wide range of categories, including whiskey, gin, brandy, vodka, rum, agave spirits, liqueurs, and non-alcoholic options. This year, the competition saw over 439 entries from both domestic and international producers.
Légitime Anise Herbal Liqueur, a Pastis-like spirit produced in small batches by Farfelu Spirits, stood out for its unique blend and quality. Made from 80% Texas corn and 20% Texas wheat, the liqueur impressed the judges with its distinctive characteristics:
• Appearance: Translucent mustard yellow
• Aroma: Anise, aromatic toasted anise, nutty brown butter, coriander, lactic, and galangal
• Palate: Toasted anise, white pepper, clove, fennel, thyme
• Finish: Long, dry, and toasted rich anise
